Business gets a new champion

MONBULK Business Network has a new president and plenty planned to help boost the town’s trading.
John Coleman owns the Reiki Healing Centre on Monbulk-Silvan Road and moved to Monbulk in 2008 from Kalorama, where he’d lived since moving to Australia from Ireland in 2001.
He joined the Monbulk Business Network (MBN) last year because he wanted to “be part of an enthusiastic group of people who were volunteering their time and energy to promote Monbulk”.
“And, in particular, all of the businesses in Monbulk, including the vast number of small and home-based businesses in the locality,” he said.
“I am a firm believer in supporting local business and services,” he said.
“I look forward to meeting with and hearing from other business owners in Monbulk and surrounding districts and finding out what you would like to see happen in the area for the benefit of your business and Monbulk.”
MBN will hold the first Monbulk Business Expo at the Monbulk Living and Learning Centre from 10am to 4pm this Sunday, 26 August, to help businesses create an awareness of what they do and where they are.
Following on from the expo, MBN is planning to produce a Monbulk Business Directory.
Participation in the expo and MBN membership will give businesses a basic entry in the directory.
For an additional cost they can include a description of their business and/or a photograph.
All businesses within the MBN area – Monbulk, The Patch, Silvan and Kallista – are entitled to an entry.
MBN will hold its fourth annual Merry Monbulk Christmas late night shopping event on Friday 30 November and the St George’s Church Market is scheduled for Saturday 1 December.
