THE playoffs dream is over for Sherbrooke Suns Youth Championship Men.
Battling their way back into the top four of Big V’s premier youth basketball competition with a 101-65 demolition over Dandenong last week, Sherbrooke had to battle top seed Kilsyth to keep its finals dreams alive.
The Suns couldn’t match pace with the Cobras as Kilsyth scored 41-20 after the break to advance to the next round.
Sherbrooke’s Michael Dow (18 points) and Daniel Steen (12 points, six rebounds) led the scoresheet while Jonathan Truman (13 rebounds) toiled under the defensive ring to reel in his sixth 10-or-more rebound game of the season.
Sherbrooke’s State Championship men claimed a high-scoring overtime thriller with a 105-100 win over Bulleen – led by Grant Johnson, who reeled in a whopping 46 points – while the Suns women blitzed Melbourne Tigers 81-59 to finish the season on a high note.
The Suns men finished fourth through the home-and-away season and face Bulleen again in an elimination final at Belgrave Heights Christian School.
