THE talented team at 1812 Theatre Company is preparing to again delight audiences, this time with their stage version of ‘Driving Miss Daisy’.
The play is best-known for its film adaptation of the same name, released in 1989, which won numerous accolades, including numerous Academy Award nominations.
The film, which starred Morgan Freeman (as Hoke Colburn) and Jessica Tandy (as Daisy Werthan) is often cited as a modern classic.
Set against a backdrop of changing world events between 1948 and 1973, the narrative centres around a feisty Southern widow and her proud but soft-spoken black chauffeur.
The performance is described as a journey from suspicion and mistrust to respect and deep-rooted affection.
Performances will be held at the Lowe Auditorium (3 Rose Street, Upper Ferntree Gully) from now until Saturday, 13 August.
‘Driving Miss Daisy’ is directed by Horrie Leek and written by Alfred Uhry.
